Will Power

This September, YWCA Edmonton is joining with organizations and gift planners across Canada to take part in Will Power

Will Power is a national movement, made up of charities, financial advisors and legal professionals across the country, working together to show Canadians that they have the power to make a difference through their will.

WillPower.ca has simple tools to guide Canadians through the process of leaving a charitable gift in a Will, and to help you better understand the impact they can make.

About CAGP and the CAGP Foundation

Will Power™ is spearheaded by the CAGP Foundation in partnership with the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP). The CAGP Foundation aims to financially support programs that inspire giving in Canada; CAGP is a national professional association that brings together charities, financial advisors, and legal professionals advancing strategic charitable giving in their communities. Both organizations believe in creating a better world through gifts in Wills and other types of strategic charitable gifts.

How it works

  1. Review the Host a Fundraiser Toolkit document.
  2. Complete the Host a Fundraiser Application and submit it to YWCA Edmonton.
  3. Once YWCA Edmonton contacts you with event approval, you can start putting your event together – have fun!

  1. Speak to your lawyer about drafting or revising your Will or adding a codicil. Here is some sample wording to reference:

    I give YWCA Edmonton, charitable number 10822 7935 RR0001, ____ per cent of the residue of my estate (or the sum of $____)

  2. Take a moment to complete this confidential Planned Gift Confirmation Form and return it to us. Letting us know that you have made a bequest allows us the opportunity to thank you today and ensure that your gift can accomplish what you’d like.
